Hurricanes’ late rally enough to blow opponents away

HENLEY U11s finished their season in style with victories against Broadstreet, Syston and Nottingham on their Midlands tour last weekend.

HENLEY U11s finished their season in style with victories against Broadstreet, Syston and Nottingham on their Midlands tour last weekend.

A tour party of 34 players won all seven of their games played plus they watched the Leicester versus Wasps game on the Sunday afternoon before heading home.

The opposition had the physical advantage but they could not compete with the speed, handling skills and commitment at the breakdown and Broadstreet were put to the sword by all three Henley teams.

Syston and Nottingham were tougher opposition on the Sunday with all games eventually going the Hawks’ way. The final game of Syston A versus the Henley Hurricanes provided the game of the season with Henley coming back from 14-5 down with five minutes to play to win 19-14.

Gian Verdding picked up the player-of-the-tour award for his high energy levels and work at the breakdown.
