HENLEY HAWKS U8A recorded an impressive win against Bicester to lift the Oxfordshire County Championships Cup at Witney on Sunday.

In a nail-biting golden try finish Archie Smith stormed over to record a hard-fought 6-5 win.

Withstanding an onslaught by the opposition in the dying seconds it was a turnover by Noah Elrington that ensured possession that led to the try.

The side showed good spirit throughout the day recording victories over the likes of Chinnor and Gosford before finishing top of the 16 teams in their tournament.

The Henley Hawks U8B team were also entered into the top-tier cup competition and finished top of their pool, only losing out on a semi-final place to Witney on a single try in the final seconds despite a spirited come back from two tries down.

Henley Hawks U8C team entered the plate competition playing against opposition B teams and remained unbeaten throughout the day. Facing Chinnor in the semi-final they ran hard to record a draw at full time losing out on a place in the final by the toss of a coin.
