SHIPLAKE COLLEGE comfortably won their opening match of the season at home to WIndsor Boys’ School.

Within minutes of the kick-off the forwards established superiority with strong tight play creating an opportunity for Tom Harman to power over in the left-hand corner for the opening try.

Windsor Boys bounced back immediately, scoring almost from the kick-off. Windsor converted their try to take a 7-5 lead.

Working hard to settle into their game plan Shiplake looked for territory and kicked to the corners. The forwards were able to provide a constant flow of possession for the backs.

Fijian centre Fili Savou made a number of good line-breaks yet it was Jamie Westbrook who produced three side-steps before diving, unchallenged, under the posts. In the second half Shiplake continued to maintain their dominance and prop Josh Davies, making his debut for for the first team, claimed the last try of the day.
