THE Oratory School U14s and 1st XV rugby teams embarked on very different tours over half term.

While the U14s made their annual visit to Dublin, the 1st XV headed for the warmer climate of Malta.

The U14s played well in their first game against Sandford Park School, Dublin, scoring 14 tries but lost narrowly in their second game against St Gerard’s Bray. The visit also took in a behind the scenes tour of the Aviva stadium.

The 1st XV found themselves in Malta at the invitation of former Oratory School captain, Sam Borg, to support the development of underage rugby in the country.

Borg, who is currently playing for Malta in the qualifying rounds of the Rugby World Cup, said: “It was great to see the Oratory boys here to support the development of rugby. They have been outstanding in every way.”

On the pitch the Oratory played in an exhibition Sevens game against the Maltese Gladiators VII and a full 1st XV game against club side, the Maltese Falcons, winning convincingly 32-0.
