Shiplake gain derby victory

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE gained a comfortable win against their local rivals in their final home match of the season.

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE gained a comfortable win against their local rivals in their final home match of the season.

Will Janes opened the scoring after 13 minutes following some slick handling and fast ball. Six minutes later a deft off-load from Fili Savou allowed Ruiari Van Raalte to shrug off the fullback’s tackle and run in under the posts.

Reading were clearly shaken and when a penalty was awarded to Shiplake in the Reading 22, Toby Howe tapped and sprinted to the line.

Shortly afterwards it was Savou’s turn to make a line-break and accelerate to the line. Bodie Deane completed the first half scoring when Howe drew the defence before releasing the number eight for a try.

In the second half Shiplake continued to drive the ball from the line-out effectively. With a secure scrum and a good supply of possession there were further tries for Bodie Deane, Joe Carey, Savou and Markus Grun.
