Double for Blue Coat

SONNING’S Reading Blue Coat School completed the double at Maidenhead Rugby Club last week as both their U13s and U14s secured their respective county cups.

In the first match of the day Blue Coat U13s defeated Claires Court U13s 19-17.

Claires Court were a well organised side but the Blue Coat team’s sheer grit in defence against a resurgent opposition pack eventually won out.

Tries for Blue Coat came from Harry Clarke, Will Stam and Kieron Burgess, but it was Jack Hill’s conversions that proved the difference on the score sheet.

Blue Coat U14s eased to a 22-7 victory against Reading School.



In the first half, tries from captain Josh Smart, Tom Beard and Christian Scott and a conversion by Eddie Lee took the half-time score to 17-0 in Blue Coat’s favour.

The second half bore a striking resemblance to the first, until the Blue Coat players spilled their own ball and allowed Reading to score a converted breakaway try. Will Smith scored a final try for Blue Coat to wrap up the scoring.
