HENLEY HAWKS U8s, a side made up with half the players not having played rugby before, secured the plate at the Beaconsfield development tournament last Sunday.

The Hawks team of Viggo Gibbons, Jamie Halliwell, Ben Horner, Ollie Johnson, Rory Pearson, Hunter Rey, Toby Shemilt and Archie Stickley faced strong opposition throughout the competition. Henley picked up solid wins in their pool against Windsor and two Beaconsfield sides, whilst losing by one score to the overall tournament winners Phoenix in an exciting and even game.

As pool runners-up Henley faced a strong and physical Fullerians side in the plate final, running out winners by five tries to four.

Archie Stickley with 15 tries and Ben Horner with numerous tags were awarded certificates for being named player-of-the-day and defender-of-the-day respectively.
