ABBEY Rugby Club entered a large squad in the recent Camber Sands Festival where they came away with several honours.

In all 280 players and parents travelled to Sussex for the two-day tournament, the larget mini and junior rugby festival in the country.

Out of a possible five trophies in the mini section, Abbey RFC left as winners in four — U7s, U8s, U10s and U11s — with the U9s falling at the last hurdle, losing their last pool game to Towcester from Northampton after winning their previous nine pool games. Abbey U13s finished fourth overall. In another tour, to Barnstable Devon, Abbey U14s ran out winners.

• Abbey U12s will travel to Twickenham for the Premiership final next Saturday (May 30) where they will take part in an honours parade at half-time after winning the Land Rover Cup.
