Savou snapped up by French giants

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE’S Fili Savou will begin his career as a professional rugby player next season after signing a three year contract with RC Toulon.

The top French club are widely recognised as the leading force in European rugby, having won the Heineken Cup for the past three seasons.

Powerful centre Savou has represented both England and Fiji in youth internationals, and has emerged as a key member of the Saracens academy squad. He now follows in the footsteps of many British talents, including Jonny Wilkinson, in making the trip across the channel.

Savou will initially join Toulon’s U21 squad to continue his progression. His sights are firmly set on breaking in to the senior squad in the coming years, and plying his trade in the French ‘ Top 14’ league.
