A FORMER Abbey mini and junior player has donated his England U16 shirt to the club.

Winger Ben Loader was selected for England’s winning U16s when they played Wales at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Caerphilly in April. England won the match 34-0 with Loader scoring a try.

Loader played and trained at Abbey from eight years of age until last year when he moved to Wellington College, having previously been at Reading School.

The presentation was made on Sunday after Abbey Colts drew 10-10 with Bicester Colts.

Loader became the club’s sixth player to play at international level — five for England and one for Scotland.
