TWO sides from Sonning’s Reading Blue Coat School were celebrating last week after they both won their respective Berkshire county cup finals.
Blue Coat’s U13A secured their trophy by defeating Edgbarrow School 36-0.
Edgbarrow were blown away by the quality of back running lines and a dominant pack who secured the vast majority of possession.
The defence played well, earning a clean sheet and snuffing out the threat from several county players in the opposition who were never allowed to build momentum.
Meanwhile Blue Coat U14A lifted silverware after defeating Pangbourne College 12-10.
Blue Coat won a scrum at the start of the match where their forwards started going through the phases and pushing Pangbourne back to their own line. This period of pressure led to a try for Dave Coleman which was converted by Jack Hill.
Pangbourne kicked a penalty before Josh Harris pounced on a loose ball and barged his way through to put Blue Coat 12-3 up at half-time.
In the second half Blue Coat failed to add to their lead as Pangbourne scored a converted try. Blue Coat’s defence stood firm as they held on to secure victory.
