HENLEY VULTRES began their quest to regain the Oxfordshire Veterans Cup with a comprehensive 55-0 victory at Abingdon.
The visitors dominated the first 10 minutes without scoring due to several handling errors, until Luke Thompson made an excellent turnover 40 yards out, made 20 yards himself and then the ball was moved to Jonny Carson on the left wing who scooted over.
Five minutes later Mark Venner drove over from a five-yard scrum and on 20 minutes a strong run from Chris Darke, also went over under the posts, with Tristan Stubbs adding a conversion.
Darke then got a second try following a pass from Jay Bell, while lock Luke Thompson was put through by Simon Priestley to make it 29-0 at the break.
After the restart further tries came from Cotton, Priestley, Jonny Carson and Darke grabbed his hat-trick.
Darke and Gerry Williams shared conversion duties and were successful with three out of the four attempts.
