Pub sale delayed

A BID to have a village pub listed as an asset of community value is to be withdrawn.

Shiplake Parish Council wanted to protect the Plowden Arms as it is being sold by Brakspear.

Now it has agreed to scrap the idea after Tom Davies, chief exceutive of the pub company, said it could threaten the sale. In return, he agreed to notify the council on the day of the sale and who the buyers are.

The pub was offered for sale for £450,000.
