THE Oratory School team attended the Surrey Schools Match at the NRA Ranges at Bisley, on Saturday where the U16s pair of J Hopwood and T Schmidt won the Sowman Challenge Cup.
The over-16s pair of O Clark and A Diev finished second in the Officers Bowl while the eight did well, against stiff competition from much larger schools, to finish fourth.
A good individual performance came from S Maitland Bondonneau who took second place in both the Officer’s Cup and the Officer’s Challenge Cup.
Earlier in the month the team secured bronze at the London and Middlesex Rifle Association match at Bisley which was competed for by 10 schools.
The Oratory entered an eight who secured third place behind Epsom and Wellington, Harry Si shooting in the Eight winning his first of many medals.
In the Sawyer Cup again at Bisley with 10 schools once again competing, the Oratory had 20 boys shooting in an eight and various pairs. The eight finished a close second to Epsom winning silver medals with Wellington 20 points adrift.
Charlie Dart took top honours as he won the individual champion shot.
J Alsop and G Stanford-Beale took second place in the cadet pairs winning silver medals. T Nicholls and A Diev took third place in the reserve pairs winning bronze medals.
