Fish centre move plan

THE Fish volunteer centre in Sonning Common could move to the village hall.

The charity is considering new sites in case its current base in Kennylands Road becomes unavailable.

Clive Mills, chairman of trustees, said they were interested in relocating to the old village police station in Lea Road when it was put up for sale. However, a bid made by a developer was accepted.

“Money has a habit of speaking louder than words,” he said. “I do not see any other similar properties in the area. We have been talking about going back into the village hall.  I think it would be an admirable place to have our office.”

The centre was left homeless after a hit and run driver in a VW Golf smashed into it in December 2017. The charity was run from a room at Christ the King Church hall in Sedgewell Road for eight months while repairs were carried out.

Mr Mills said: “When we were in Christ the King Church, we had a lot of people just coming in for chats. We have tended to lose that a bit.”
