'Village should be protected'

A COUNCILLOR in Sonning Common wants the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to be extended to cover the village.

Stan Rust says a footpath through the village is part of the Chiltern Way and could be used to argue that the whole village should be included in the protected area.

A decision would lie with Natural England but the parish council would have to make representations to the Chilterns Conservation Board.

Councillor Rust said: “It seems sensible for that footpath to go through the AONB. The views from the footpath are beautiful.”
