New house refused

PLANS for a new house in Sonning Common have been rejected.

Hazlewood Estates wanted to build a four-bedroom house in the garden of a property in Baskerville Road  with access via Woodlands Road.

Nineteen residents objected to the application.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee refused consent, saying the scale of the development would negatively impact neighbours.

Councillor Paul Harrison, who represents the village on the council, spoke against the plans, saying the development would be too bulky with insufficient parking.

Parish councillor Carole Lewis and Woodlands Road residents Ros Varnes and Helen Gavin also outlined their concerns to the committee.

Planning officers had recommended the application for approval.
