Polo club welcomes new members...

“BINFIELD Heath Polo Club is perhaps one of the Henley area’s best kept equestrian secrets,” says spokeswoman, Rona Posselt.

“BINFIELD Heath Polo Club is perhaps one of the Henley area’s best kept equestrian secrets,” says spokeswoman, Rona Posselt.

Founded in 1994 by a core of local members, the club is based three-and-a-half miles outside Henley.

Mrs Posselt continued: “A new polo school has just opened, run by Philip Elliott who has played polo for nearly 40 years all around the world, and is known as a real gentleman of the sport.

“Philip is particularly interested in teaching polo horsemanship, helping players learn by improving their riding and pony management, increasing skills and enjoyment for them and their ponies. As a fully qualified coach he can teach complete beginners up to more experienced players looking to improve.”

The polo school has access to Binfield Heath Polo Club’s two fully-irrigated polo grounds as well as a practice ground and arena.

Those who are not quite ready for the real thing are welcome to try out their skills on the wooden horse.

“Polo offers experienced riders a new way to put their skills to the test, combining speed, agility and ball skills,” said Mrs Posselt.

“If you fancy taking a look first, games are played most weekends and spectators are always welcome — entry is free.”
