HENLEY Swimming Club have appointed a new head coach after Ray Gallagher stepped down following 22 years’ service in the post at last week’s annual general meeting.
Sarah Williams was voted in as the new head coach and will take over from Gallagher who steps down in June.
During Gallagher’s tenure Henley Swimming Club has gone from strength to strength with the swimmers training regularly, learning about teamwork and self-motivation, successfully competing in a range of galas and enjoying the club’s social events.
Gallagher developed strong links with Leichlingen, Henley’s twin town in Germany, organising annual exchange galas where swimmers compete for individual trophies and the team Friendship Cup.
New coach Williams, who has recently returned to the UK from Australia where she was coaching swimmers at the highly regarded Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club, is confident that she can build on Gallagher’s success.
Williams originally joined Henley Swimming Club aged nine and was appointed club captain in 2010.
