CHILDREN will be able to swim alongside their parents at this year’s Henley Mile race.
Organisers have added a family category to the event, which will be held on Sunday, July 12.
Families will be able to take on a 200m course around Temple Island while stronger swimmers can opt for a half–mile race.
Participants’ names will be entered into the hat to win tickets to the Open Water Swimming Show, which will be held in Temple Island Meadows, off Remenham Lane, on the same day.
For the mile event, hundreds of competitors will race along the Henley Royal Regatta course.
The race, which is now in its fifth year, is organised by Jeremy Laming, co–founder of the Henley Swim series.
He said: “We hope that the stories and achievements of the families who step up to the mark will inspire others to get active and perhaps try something they didn’t even know they would enjoy doing.
“Swimming in a natural environment is one of the most exhilarating feelings and training for a specific end–goal helps to keep the motivation going.
“We are hoping that a wider group of people will experience this feeling of self–achievement and the event this year will be an amazing celebration of everything to do with swimming.”
