THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side began their Reading and District League season with a 7-3 win against Sonning Common and Peppard B in Division 1.
The promoted B team battled hard with Jeremy Willis winning twice, but the re-jigged A team containing up-and-coming youngsters Joe Barraclough and Thomas Perkins proved too strong.
The Sonning Common club has three teams in Division 2 this season. The C team were 7-3 winners against a two man E team in their derby match, Danny Dockree starring with two good wins, while the D team have found the going hard so far losing both their opening matches, including a 10-0 loss to Pangbourne WMC A.
In Division 4 the F team got off to a disappointing start losing 9-1 in their opening match followed by an 8-2 defeat at Tilehurst Methodists E.
The G team started with a creditable 5-5 draw at BBC Club in Division 5, while Oliver Sayer’s two wins and a single from Mikey Legg weren’t enough to prevent a 7-3 loss at home to Reading FC B.
The H team also held BBC Club to a draw thanks to a fine treble from Mike Casserely, and after an opening 10-0 win at Milestone C they are just behind the leaders of Division 5, Mike Casserely, Julian James and Gerry Bacon all getting hat-tricks against Milestone.
