Jones hits maximum

IN the battle at the bottom of Division 1 of the Reading and District League, YMCA clinched a 6-4 win at Sonning Common and Peppard B thanks to a Neil Hurford treble and a vital opening win by Pete Bradley over Jeremy Willis 2-11, 16-14, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8.

Brian Meheux beat Pete Bradley 11-9, 13-11, 11-9 for the Sonning Common team while Nigel Maltby grabbed a first win of the season after he beat Dave Gilham 11-6, 13-11, 6-11, 11-6.

In Division 2 Our Lady of Peace C hung on to draw 5-5 with Sonning Common and Peppard C despite only having two players.

Kingfisher G remain clear in second place after beating nearest rivals Sonning Common and Peppard E 8-2, Malcolm Gregory, Niall McGrane and Carol Chard battling hard for the E team but they will finish the first half of the season in third place.

Angus Jones hit a maximum to help Sonning Common and Peppard F beat Our Lady of Peace E 7–3 in Division 5. Jones won a tight tussle with OLOP’s Predeep Desh 14-16, 13-11 10-12, 11-7 13-11 while Jamie Legg won twice and Mickey Legg once as the G team lost 7-3 to Reading FC C in Division 5.
