THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side showed little mercy for their relegation threatened C team club mates, winning 9-1 with hat-tricks from Jason Roberts and Neil Hurford in the latest round of Reading and District League matches. Matt Stone picked up the C team’s point by beating Malcom Gregory 6-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9, 12-10.
A hat-trick from Andy Wang that included a hard fought win over Julian Telford helped Sonning Common and Peppard B win 7-3 at Kennet Valley Free Church A. Nigel Maltby also managed a win against Julian but was then defeated by Masood Gbachi who played some inspired table tennis.
Alan Mollet got a maximum as Sonning Common and Peppard D beat Kingfisher E 8-2, Mark Jones and reserve Derek Wavell each winning twice.
The E team lost 6-4 to fellow Division 3 strugglers Sonning Sports B, Oliver Sayer with two and Jamie Legg getting their singles victories as well as teaming up to win the doubles.
Mike Casserley scored a maximum for Sonning Common and Peppard F in their intra-club derby match against the G team in Division 4 but, with Anthony Reeve, David Pearson and Jim Warren each winning twice the G team earned their bragging rights with a 7-3 victory.
