Roberts bags hat-trick

JASON ROBERTS’ impressive three-straight treble helped Sonning Common and Peppard A reclaim third place in Division 1 of the Reading and District League as they beat Kennet Valley Free Church A 8-2, Joe Barraclough and Neil Hurford both winning twice.

Sonning Common and Peppard B won a hard fought tussle at Curzon Club A 8-2 thanks to an Andy Wang treble, a good win by Jeremy Willis over his brother Jon 11-9, 11-9, 5-11, 8-11, 11-9 and a narrow victory for Brian Meheux against Peter Bradley 11-5, 12-10, 8-11, 8-1, 11-9.

The C team lost 6-4 at Milestone A but the four points gained means they will stay above Milestone and are all but safe from relegation. Matt Stone won twice alongside singles from Tim Raby and Matt Isherwood.

A maximum from Alan Mollett and singles by Mark Jones and Eric Walker gave Sonning Common and Peppard D a share of the spoils against Our Lady of Peace B in their Division 2 match, Dave Holt winning a tight tussle with Mark Jones for OLOP 11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 9-11 14-12.

Oliver Sayer and Derek Wavell got wins as the E team stay just above the relegation zone in Division 3 despite an 8-2 loss at champions elect Tilehurst Methodists B.

In Division 4 the G team could only field two players, but with Ian Davenport undefeated and Jim Warren beating both Julian Lancaster and Colin Jones they still managed to win 6-4 away to Springfield E.
