THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side just missed out on a point from their Reading and District Division 1
THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side just missed out on a point from their Reading and District Division 1 match against Our Lady of Peace B. Despite leading 4-3 after a doubles win they couldn’t quite win any of the final three singles matches and eventually lost 6-4.
Simon Berry played well for his two wins while Jason Roberts beat Raphael Jack but just missed out against John Millward, 11-5, 12-10, 3-11, 8-11, 12-14. Paul Jarvis also just missed out against Millward and battled hard to try and win the final set of the night for a draw, but lost 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 5-11, 7-11, to Jack.
In Division 2 the C team slipped into the relegation zone after matches against the top two teams, losing 9-1 at Tidmarsh C and 6-4 against Curzon Club A while doubles from Martyn Fenner and Jeremy Willis almost gave them a point against Curzon.
The D team lost 8-2 against Division 3 promotion-chasing Polish B to remain just above the drop zone.
In Division 5 the E team’s Danny Dockree, Jim McClure and Anthony Reeve all got maximums as they won 10-0 against Birch Copse B. The F team are now in the bottom two after losing against Polish C.
In Division 6 the G team are now third after being 9-1 winners at Birch Copse C, Matt Tarrant and Angus Jones both starring with trebles that included notable wins against Roy Hull, while Steve Knott also earned two good victories. The team are now five points adrift of second place Kingfisher J with a game in hand.
