THE Sonning Common and Peppard club’s top two teams both gave themselves a boost in the top division of the Reading and District League with victories.
The A team won a tough match with Curzon Club A 7-3. Keith Swain starred with a treble including a narrow 11-8, 7-11, 7-11, 11-3, 14-12 win over John Wilcocks, while Malcolm Gregory sealed the match victory with an equally close battle with Wilcocks to win 5-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10.
The B team managed a first win of the season by beating Tidmarsh B 6-4. Jeremy Willis scored a maximum supported through two wins from Simon Berry and a Nigel Maltby single. In Division 2 the C team lost 6-4 at Kingfisher F. Matt Stone and Brian Meheux both won while Danny Dockree suffered a rare off night.
In Division 4 the D team were held to a 5-5 draw at Tilehurst Methodists C. Alan Mollett scored a treble with the point enough to keep promotion in their own hands.
The E team lost 8-2 at Milestone B while the F team boosted their chances of avoiding the drop with an 8-2 win at Milestone C with Matt Tarrant, Julian James and late call-up Derek Maltby all starring.
