REIGNING Reading and District League Division B champions Kingfisher A proved too good for Sonning Common and Peppard B last

REIGNING Reading and District League Division B champions Kingfisher A proved too good for Sonning Common and Peppard B last week.

All three Sonning Common and Peppard players — Jeremy Willis, Nigel Maltby and Paul Jarvis — gave a good account of themselves against Kingfisher’s number three Stuart Williams, Jarvis only just losing out 13-11, 11-7, 6-11, 5-11, 9-11 while Maltby managed a 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9 win as the B team eventually lost the match 9-1.

In Division 2 the C team continued their good start with an 8-2 win at Post Office A, Danny Dockree with a treble alongside doubles from Mark Corbett and Brian Meheux in a hard-fought match.

Anthony Reeve and Derek Wavell both won twice and Alan Mollet added a single as the D team were held to a 5-5 draw by Kingfisher J in Division 4. Reeve earned a 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 success over Kingfisher’s Ken Robb.

The F team opened their account with a club derby win against the E team in the same division where Matt Tarrant had a good win over the E team’s Dave Aust. In Division 5 the G team just failed to manage a point for the second match running as they lost out 6-4 to Springfield E. Joe Barraclough and Harry and Oliver Sayers both won their matches.
