Crunch ties lay ahead

THE Sonning Common and Peppard B side face two matches against fellow Reading and District League relegation strugglers in the next week that will decide their fate after losing out to Wokingham A 7-3.

THE Sonning Common and Peppard B side face two matches against fellow Reading and District League relegation strugglers in the next week that will decide their fate after losing out to Wokingham A 7-3.

Simon Berry lost to Graham Diplock 8-11, 11-6, 11-9, 4-11, 10-12 while Berry, Jeremy Willis and Nigel Maltby managed wins over Brian Chinneck.



In Division 2 the C team lost 6-4 at Kingfisher F despite a fine treble by Matt Stone who beat Ivor Hardman 11-9, 11-3, 8-11, 7-11, 11-7 in his opener.



The D team were held to a 5-5 draw by Tilehurst Methodists B in Division 3, Alan Mollett winning all his matches while Anthony Reeve and Derek Wavell picked up singles.





Both the E and F teams recorded surprise victories against higher ranked opposition this week in Division 4.



The E team toppled leaders Pangbourne C 6-4 with a fine win by Mike Casserely over Mick Grantham and an 11-8, 11-8, 11-8 win by Gerry Bacon against Ted Cripps. Julian James, Wally Allanson and Scarlett Jones all contributed as the F team won 6-4 at third placed Milestone B.



In Division 5 the H team lost 9-1 to table topping Our Lady of Peace F, Oliver Sayers managing their only win.
