THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side gave their hopes of avoiding the drop from Division 1 of the Reading and District League a boost by beating Our Lady of Peace B 6–4.
Keith Swain top scored with a maximum alongside two wins from Jason Roberts and a vital single from a rejuvenated Malcolm Greg–ory who beat Chris West 6–11, 11–3, 14–12, 8–11, 11–5.
The B team are odds on for the drop after just missing out at Kingfisher D. Simon Berry, Brian Meheux and Nigel Maltby all won one apiece while Nigel and Simon teamed up to win the doubles in a 6–4 defeat.
In Division 2 hat–tricks from Matt Stone, Tim Raby and Jon Abbott saw the C team win 10–0 against bottom team Springfield A while the D team slipped to another 6–4 defeat as they were undone by Our Lady of Peace D.
The F team continued their fine run with a 7–3 win against Tilehurst Methodists D, Eric Walker and Angus Jones with maximums. Thomas Perkins won twice as the E team won 7–3 at Tilehurst Methodists C.
Dave Aust, Pete Harman and Derek Maltby all picked up wins but still lost out 6–4 against Kingfisher K in Division 5, while the H team held Birch Copse B to a 5–5 draw, John Sayer, Oliver Sayer and Jamie Legg all contributing.
