A NARROW 6-4 defeat for Sonning Common and Peppard A at home against Kingfisher B puts their Reading and District Division 1 status under threat.
Justin Mead edged in front of Jason Roberts in a final set decider. Their scores were as follows: 11-4, 12-10, 6-11, 9-11 and 11-8. A 10-0 defeat at the hands of Tidmarsh A followed and they will need to avoid defeat in their next match at YMCA.
In Division 2, the B team secured the league title after beating Kingfisher E 6-4. Matt Faulkner won a treble while Brian Meheux managed two fine wins over Colin Dyke and Grant Wheatley as well as teaming up with Matt to win the doubles.
The D team all but ensured their safety in Division 2 after holding Kingfisher F to a 5-5 draw. Alan Mollett and Mark Jones won two apiece as well as teaming up to win the vital doubles 13-11, 7-11, 11-1, 10-12 and 11-9.
However, the E team remain deep in trouble after being held to a 5-5 draw by fellow relegation strugglers Kingfisher G.
Sonning Sports A all but secured their promotion with a 7-3 win over Sonning Common & Peppard F, despite a memorable treble from Nicholas Nowak for the relegated Sonning Common team.
In Division 5, the G team still have a chance of promotion after Dave Aust hit a maximum to win 8-2 at BBC Club while second-placed Tilehurst Methodists D lost 8-2 at OLOP F.
