Husband surprised by wife on Strictly

Husband surprised by wife on Strictly

HENLEY featured in the finale to the 20th series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC 1 on Saturday night.

Producers visited the town last month to ask people what they thought of the show and the final dancers left in the competition.

They filmed at a number of businesses, including dog groomer Naughty Mutt Nice, chocolatiers Gorvett & Stone, Ted James Barbers, teddy bear shop Asquiths and café Spoon.

Nadia Lamin, 30, an actress who works part-time at Spoon said: “I don’t watch Strictly religiously but I told them that the judges were brilliant and full of energy and that the dancers were fantastic. I said it was going to be hard for them to choose a winner.

“The producers were really sweet. There were three of them, Natalie, Megan and Scott, and they were really professional and friendly. It’s exciting that I was part of the show.”

Karole Robertson, who owns the dog salon, said: “I was surprised they picked us but it was fun. I had a client’s dog, Austin, with me during the interview and she was very happy her dog was going to be on TV.

“The producers were really nice and very easy to talk to. I’d been watching Strictly and I told them that I thought Jayde Adams was fabulous.

“She’s plus-size and she just owns her body and is confident. She is brilliant at dancing and an inspiration for other women. I also said that it was a shame that Richie Anderson left because he was making me laugh.”

Katie Sheehan, marketing manager at Gorvett & Stone, kept her appearance on the show a secret from her husband to see his reaction on the night.

She said: “My daughters and I watch the show together and I agreed to do this because it is nice family viewing.

“My five-year-old and 10-year-old knew about the filming and I can’t believe they didn’t tell their dad about it, especially the younger one — I thought she’d blurt it out.

“He was so surprised when he saw it. The children said, ‘Daddy, look!’ and he was like, ‘What?’, and just laughed. It was very funny.”
