HENLEY men’s A team ended their winter season on a high with a hard-fought away win at Brackley.
The familiar pairing of Max Miles-Thomas and Eric Davies made a quick start to their opening match winning 6-1, 6-4. On the other court, Jeremy Wright was joined by Henley debutant Connor Cummings who gelled well together. Cummings’ imposing height and powerful serve enabled Henley to take the first set 7-5 against a strong Brackley first pair who won the second set 6-1. In the final rubber Miles-Thomas and Davies came unstuck against Brackley’s first pair losing out 6-3, 6-3.
Knowing that two sets in their final match would secure a Henley victory, Wright and Cummings took no mercy on Brackley’s second pair with Wright’s tactical play and positioning freeing up Cummings to play his shots. The pair won 6-1, 6-0 and secured an overall 5-3 win for Henley
