Duo hold their nerve to secure Shiplake win

SHIPLAKE COLLEGE picked up two wins over their local rivals last week.

The first six ran out winners against the Oratory School. After the first two rounds of doubles matches, Shiplake were 4-2 up and the victory was within grasp.

Shiplake’s highest ranked pair of James Bailey and Suilven Wagner-Piggott overcame a tough fixture against Oratory’s best players to secure the winning point.

The Shiplake boys were a break down early in the set but came back to secure an unassailable 5-2 lead.

Each school earned one more victory apiece as the fixture finished 6-3 to Shiplake.

Shiplake’s U14 squad battled to a 6-4 victory over Reading Blue Coat.

Laurenz Class, Marcus Hillman, Hugh Rutledge, Benjamin Tracey, Sam Lowe and Alexander Sutton all contributed to the win, teaming up well in the doubles matches to clinch enough matches to edge the overall contest.
