TENNIS players have finally managed to complete a tournament that was postponed due to the bad weather at Easter.

Twenty-four people took part in the rescheduled Tomlinson Tournament at Wargrave Tennis Club, competing in randomly selected pairs in two groups.

The final was contested between the winners of the two groups, with Mem Aldridge and Sheena Darke beating Annie Moore and Alexis Alexander.

Club president John Cogland presented the trophy and the winners with a bottle of wine each.

The fourth and final edition of the club’s summer American tournaments was won by Angie Sandall and Rob Dorin, who beat Margo Crouch and Jerry O’Driscoll 6-2 in the final.

The next event is the club finals day on Sunday, September 15, starting at 10am, which will be followed by a barbecue at 4pm to which guests are invited in return for a £5 entry fee.
