PUPILS at the Heights Primary School in Caversham collected 10 boxes of donated goods to give to Readibank, a foodbank in Reading.
The initiative was driven by the school’s council which invited donations from parents of tinned vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, dried pasta and noodles as well as pantry items and toiletries.
Year 5 teacher Elena Cook said: “The school council took a lead on it. They wanted to help the local community a bit more because we do a lot of national charity days such as Children in Need.
“They wanted to do something where the children could actually see the difference they have made.”
