Children perform nativity for care home residents

CHILDREN from a nursery in Sonning Common performed the nativity for residents of a nearby care home.

Kingfisher Kindergarten in Reades Lane had not visited Abbeycrest in Essex Way since 2019 due to the covid pandemic. The 23

children sang songs including Our First Nativity, I’m a Little Angel, To Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, Three Little Shepherds and Ride Your Camel.

Mary and Joseph were played by Tabitha Fairburn and Louie Keable-Elliot. Kindergarten owner La-Ryne van der Westhuizen, said: “We were so excited to be able to return to Abbeycrest following the pandemic. It really is a great day out for us and the children.

“We believe it helps both the children and the elderly engage. The children learn from new experiences and the elderly might be reminded of fond memories of their past.”

Tamena Seymour, home
co-ordinator at Abbeycrest, said: “It’s lovely for the residents to see the children acting out the nativity and you could see they enjoyed it as their faces lit up.”
