IF you missed the stage version of Birdsong at the Wycombe Swan earlier this year there is another chance to see it in Windsor next month.

The play is an adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ bestselling novel and tells the story of young Englishman, Stephen Wraysford, who embarks on a passionate and dangerous affair with Isabelle Azaire, the wife of his host.

As civil unrest mounts and war breaks out, Stephen must leave behind his bourgeois life and lead his men through the carnage of the Battle of the Somme and the sprawling underground tunnels that were dug out to plant bombs under enemy trenches.

The stage adaptation stars Sarah Jayne Dunn of Hollyoaks fame and Charlie G Hawkins who plays Darren Miller in EastEnders.

Birdsong is at Theatre Royal Windsor from Monday to Saturday, July 15 to 20. Box office 01753 853888 or www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk
