A new anniversary production is now on tour, and is coming to the New Theatre Oxford later this month as part of its year-long run.

Ben Forster, who won the ITV1 series Superstar and then went on to play the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar will star as Brad.

Actor Oliver Thornton, who has appeared in many West End shows including Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Phantom Of The Opera and Les Misérables, stars as the lead character Frank ‘n’ Furter. Christopher Luscombe, who also directs the show, will play the role of the Narrator in his first acting role for more than a decade.

Since its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, Richard O’Brien’s show has been performed in more than 30 countries in every continent and has been translated into more than 20 languages.

This new 40th anniversary version of the musical will feature all of its famous classic numbers including Science Fiction/Double Feature, Dammit Janet and of course, The Time-Warp.

The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two squeaky clean college kids who meet Dr Frank ’n’ Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house. What follows is an eye-opening, outrageous adventure they’ll never forget.

The show is at the New Theatre Oxford from August 27 to 31.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe, The Rocky Horror Show is a guaranteed party, which famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music and encourages audience participation meaning, of course, getting dressed in your most outrageous fancy dress.

The Rocky Horror Show was first performed on 19 June 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre. It was an immediate success, transferring to three London theatres. It was transformed into a film in 1974 called ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. This film adaptation took over $135 million at the Box Office and is still shown in cinemas around the world 38 years after its premiere, making it the longest running theatrical release in film history.

Many stars, including Russell Crowe, Tim Curry, Jerry Springer and Meatloaf have appeared in The Rocky Horror Show over the past 40 years.

Ready to thrill you with fun and naughty moments, O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show is the boldest bash of them all. Be warned, this show has rude parts!
