ACTRESS Dani Harmer, who made the final of last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, will be the star in this year’s panto at the Hexagon in Reading. Dani, who also starred in children’s TV series Tracy Beaker, will play Princess Tamara in Jack And The Beanstalk.

Steve Boden, managing director of Imagine Theatre, said: “We are thrilled that Dani is joining the Hexagon panto cast this Christmas. She has a massive fan base from her portrayal of Tracy Beaker and of course most recently she has shown us what a fabulous dancer she is.

“We work really hard to bring the Reading audiences some of the best stars around and Dani fits that bill perfectly.”

Former EastEnders actress Emma Barton will take the lead role as Jack.

The pair are joined by Ken Morley as the King, Debbie McGee as the Fairy, Paul Morse as Dame Trot, Jon Clegg as Simple Simon and Richard Morse as panto villlain Fleshcreep. Also starring will be Dave, an award-winning panto cow, a pink and blue Fresian who claimed the title of the nation’s best pantomime cow in a UK competition run by Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

Steve added: “Dani and Emma both have musical theatre pedigree with Dani touring with the Rocky Horror Show and Emma having appeared in the West End in Chicago and we will be making the most of this with some fabulous song and dance numbers.

“Another important ingredient of panto is of course comedy and Ken will be invaluable in raising plenty of laughs, while our beautiful fairy Debbie will be using her best spells and charms to help Jack defeat the evil giant Blunderbore.”

* Jack And The Beanstalk runs at the Hexagon from Saturday, December 7 until Sunday, January 5. For tickets call 0118 960 6060 or visit www.readingarts.com
