A COMIC take on Jane Austen is coming to Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead — and remarkably it will be made up on the spot.

Austentatious is a comedy play in the wondrous and witty style of the author of

Pride and Prejudice
,

Sense and Sensibility
,

Emma
and

Mansfield Park
.

The subject of the play depends on the audience and is improvised entirely on the basis of their suggestions — starting with the title.

Previous titles have included

Mansfield Shark
,

Darcy & Hutch
and even

I Know What You Did Last Season
. Irreverent yet eloquent in tone, the show is performed in period costume with live musical accompaniment.

Austentatious are in the midst of their second sell-out national tour. They have previously appeared on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 Extra and have won a Chortle comedy award.

The group previously had a residency at the Leicester Square Theatre and Old Queen’s Head in London.

Theirs is one of the most talked-about shows on the UK comedy circuit and attracts repeat audiences who know that no two shows are ever the same.

The seasoned cast includes 2015 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Joseph Morpurgo, musical actress Rachel Parris, and renowned character comedian Cariad Lloyd.

Start off 2016 with some literary laughs. Join the Austentatious troupe as they perform a completely unique show where anything could happen — but all in the classic and refined style of Jane Austen.

Showtime is at 8pm on Friday, January 15. Tickets start at £14 and are available from the box office on 01628 788997 or online at https://norden.farm/events/austentatious-an-improvised-jane-austen-novel
