Flood-hit restaurant re-opens

Flood-hit restaurant re-opens
A CHEF whose restaurant was closed for three months due to flooding was re-opening today (Friday).

Shaun Dickens at the Boathouse in Station Road shut on February 9 after being underwater for the second time in less than two months.

Mr Dickens said he considered closing for good until he was offered the New Orleans boat by Hobbs of Henley to use as a temporary restaurant.

“We had to make a decision on whether to keep the team,” he said.

“There was nothing we could do — I still had to pay staff and we had our overheads and bills to pay. It was a massive strain on us but we decided that we didn’t want to let it go and we struck a deal to go on the boat for the month, which was a life-saver.
