“HELLO, my name is Wendy and I’m a Labrador-retriever cross. The reason I’m special is that my parents (Truman and Jazz) were specially selected by Guide Dogs for the Blind — and bingo!, me and my brothers and sisters were born!
When I was six weeks old, I went to live in a home with a lovely lady who started my training for my very important job ahead.
At 14 months, I went back to the Guide Dogs centre to continue with harness training. I qualified from training with flying colours — a guide dog at last.
Then I was introduced to my partially sighted owner called Ella in Henley.
When I first moved in, I was frightened of the laminate floor because it was very slippery and I had to get used to it gradually but these days, you’d never guess. When I was three years old, my owner and I joined a Rock Choir. Now we’ve been in it for four years and I am also the mascot. I’d like to be chosen as Henley’s Top Dog because of my gentle, friendly nature and my total commitment to my owner.”
