WORK to repair the road between Sonning and Playhatch should be carried out at night or in sections to prevent any further loss of trade, say business owners.
They spoke out at a public meeting with Henley MP John Howell and David Nimmo Smith, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for the environment, on Friday.
The meeting came 24 hours after the B478 Playhatch Road was re-opened after being closed for six weeks due to flooding from the Thames and damage to the road surface.
About 20 businessmen and women attended the meeting at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Playhatch and complained about losing trade during the closure.
Sally Hughes, managing director of The Mill at Sonning, said she had lost around £30,000.
