THE reconstruction of Whitchurch toll bridge is back on track, say contractors carrying out the work.
Balfour Beatty is about to start drilling up to 30m into the river bed and install nine new foundation piles.
Specialist piling equipment was delivered to the site on Monday and the drilling will begin on Tuesday.
The new steelwork for the bridge has been built and is now being painted in readiness for delivery in June.
The engineering firm, which is carrying out the work on behalf of the Whitchurch Bridge Company, says the bridge should re-open in September.
