THE refurbishment of Whitchurch toll bridge has hit another snag.
The bridge company’s contractors were installing new foundation piles last week when they found the chalk riverbed was weaker than they had expected.
This meant the temporary steel casings around each pile had to be extended. This work has now been done and installation of the piles was due to start again by today (Friday).
Company secretary Geoff Weir said this would not affect the scheduled bridge re-opening in September.
