THE road between Wargrave and Henley re-opened to traffic this week after gas main replacement was completed ahead of schedule.

THE road between Wargrave and Henley re-opened to traffic this week after gas main replacement was completed ahead of schedule.

The stretch of Wargrave Road between Marsh Lock and Conways Bridge was shut on August 19 and was scheduled to remain closed for three weeks but it re-opened on Tuesday lunchtime.

However, temporary traffic lights will be in place between the junctions at White Hill and Marsh Lock while the third and final phase of work takes place, scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.

A spokeswoman for Southern Gas Networks said: “We were keen to get the road closure lifted before the schools go back and we have made really good progress. We would like to thank everybody for their patience during these works.”

Meanwhile, Milley Lane in Hare Hatch is set to be closed for two days this month while drainage work is carried out.

The road will be shut between the junctions with Scarletts Lane in Hare Hatch and The Street in Waltham St Lawrence on September 16 and 17.

An alternative route will be available via Milley Lane, A4 Bath Road, Bottle Lane, Butchers Lane, Waltham Road, B3024 Broadmoor Road, The Street, Milley Road and Milley Lane. Residents and businesses will still be able to access the road during the closure period.
