Roadworks warning

ROADWORKS are to take place in Watlington as part of a major solar panel installation project.

ROADWORKS are to take place in Watlington as part of a major solar panel installation project.

EcotecWorld was granted planning permission by South Oxfordshire District Council for the development on low quality arable land at Easington Manor Farm, near Chalgrove, in August.

The installation will deliver its power to an electricity substation in Springfield Close, Watlington, by way of an underground cable from Easington.

The cable will run from Cuxham into the town from the B480 and will go along Cuxham Road, Brook Street and Spring Lane. The route will run along both the verge and occasionally through the road where necessary.

Work is due to begin on Monday and is scheduled to last two weeks. It will also affect Cuxham at some stage.

The power plant will produce enough green energy to meet the needs of more than 6,000 households and prevent the release of 9,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.

In summer months during the day, the whole of Watlington and Cuxham will be running off the clean energy generated directly from the plant.
