Triathlon date set

THIS year’s Wargrave Sprint Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 24.

The event, which began in 2015, sees competitors swim 750m, cycle 20km and run 5km around the village.

The race starts at Ferry Lane, where competitors swim up the Thames, past Bushnell’s Marina and back downstream to the jetty. Marshals on kayaks will help guide and support swimmers along the route.

The next stage is a bike ride, starting at Mill Green and out towards Burchetts Green, through Hurley Bottom, down Remenham Hill and back to Mill Green.

The run is a 1.25km loop down Station Road and through a trail which leads to Wargrave Boat Club, which will be repeated four times.

Competitors will then cross the finish line to enjoy a glass of champagne.
