In all 60 athletes competed across three categories — youth (U16), TriStar 3 (U14) and Tristar 2 (U12). In cold, gusty conditions, the run-bike-run format took place on the 400m running track at the stadium, with transition to the 550m steep-banked cycle track.
Tri Henley won four of the six races, with Scott Barnett being the first U16 boy, Saoirse McClure Fisher the first U14 girl, Adam Hunt first U14 boy and Rubin Hillier first U12 boy.
Other Tri Henley athletes took podium positions — Isobel Barnett and Daisy Butterworth were second and third in the U16 girls respectively and Hugo Warner was the third U14 boy.
Notable performances also from Max Head who finished fifth in the U12 boys in his first competitive outing, and Matt Hill, Sam Jarvis and Laurence Hillier finishing fifth, sixth and seventh in the U14 boys respectively.
In a large part Tri Henley’s strength in the event came in the cycle leg of each race, with athletes showing skills and endurance built during the club’s weekend long rides, recent sportive and weekly turbo cycle training sessions at Shiplake College.
