A WAVE of grey and green wheelie bins that has swept into Henley is infuriating residents. Bins have been dumped and stacked carelessly in streets and blocked pavements outside terraced homes. People who had warned they would create an eyesore say that is exactly what has happened. One resident is so angry that he plans to organise a march on the town hall in protest at the new waste collection system being introduced next month.
Henley councillors are to stop publishing their attendance records at meetings after deciding it was an unfair representation of their work. A report showing a year’s percentage attendance for each councillor was branded a “waste of time” and inaccurate at Tuesday’s full council meeting. Councillor Lorraine Hillier said: “What’s the point of this? It ignores factors such as sickness and annual leave.”
An elderly woman claims night-time drunken revellers in Henley are ruining her life. The 73-year-old grandmother says people urinate in the doorway of her home in Hart Street, have sex and smoke drugs in St Mary’s churchyard and make so much noise that it’s impossible to sleep.
